Louis Vuitton has called upon Marc Newson, who is known for his numerous design collaborations across various industries (aerospace, technology, furniture, fashion), to reimagine its famous trunk.

As outlined on the French luxury brand's website, the Australian industrial designer has created "a mobile trunk for the 21st-century traveller".

Marc Newson has designed "luggage with four wheels and a flat bottom, the interior storage space optimised thanks to the enlarged outer handle design, making more room," said the house on its website.

Louis Vuitton highlighted the luggage's "surprising" lightness thanks to a new polypropylene material and its "large interior space" with an increase in internal volume of 15%.

It's all about the details, from the discrete and secure lock to the retractable handle which allows the trunk to be used as a support. There's also connectivity to a dedicated application, which gives access to other addresses via the Louis Vuitton City Guide.

The house hallmarks remain across the trunk's corners, in the reinforced leather, and the famous Monogram material. The new luggage comes in a cabin and mini version size, in several decorative designs (Monogram Monogram Eclipse, Damier Graphite, Taiga leather, old leather) and in seven colours.

This is the second time Marc Newson has collaborated with Louis Vuitton. In 2014, he took part in the project "Icons & Iconoclasts" designing a fun backpack, which mingled a Monogram canvas with coloured sheepskin.
