Macintosh to sell Jones Bootmaker, Brantano

UK-based retailers Jones Bootmaker and Brantano are set to be sold by Dutch parent company Macintosh in the next 9-12 months, according to Retail Week.

Macintosh will appoint advisors for the sale in the next two to four weeks. The decision to sell the brands was taken to raise “significant investment” in the business’s core markets of Belgium and Holland," David Short, country managing director at Macintosh, told Retail Week. “In order to raise the capital, [Macintosh] has taken the decision to sell the businesses which have value.”

He is positive about finding buyers. “They are both very strong brands which are well known in the marketplace, with established market share,” Short said. “And I hope the new owners will build from the platform we have now and grow that market share.”

Jones Bootmaker has 170 and Brantano 120 stores and concessions in the UK and 3,500 employees.
