PARIS, FRANCE - Maison Martin Margiela’s secondary line MM6 has opened a store in Paris. Located at 22 place du Marché Saint-Honoré, the opening marks the brand’s first boutique in Europe.
The retail space has a distinct industrial feel to it and carries the entirety of the MM6 line, which caters only for women. Before launching its own retail network last year with a store in New York - where it also presents at Fashion Week - the line was distributed at the 30 Maison Martin Margiela stores across the world.
Future openings are scheduled for Milan this summer and in London in the following months.
MM6 launched in 1997 before secondary lines became somewhat of an industry trend. In 2002, Maison Martin Margiela as was bought by Renzo Rosso and Staff International and saw its founder leave in 2009, 20 years after its creation. Design at both labels takes place at the fashion house’s internal design studios in Paris.
