M&S hires new head of insight and loyalty

Marks & Spencer has tapped former Asda executive Andrew Mann as its new head of insight and customer loyalty.

The recruitment comes as the British retailer embarks on its next phase of its turnaround plan with a goal of becoming a digital-first business.

It follows the arrival of Jeremy Pee as chief data & data officer in December to lead the retailer’s data and loyalty programmes and the digital transformation of the business.

Further boosting the strategy, the new head of insight and loyalty brings with him extensive experience in the area. Most recently, he was vice-president of insight, pricing and digital CRM at Asda, and prior to that, he held several senior roles such as customer data director at the Co-Operative Group and director of insight and loyalty at Sainsbury’s.

At M&S, Mann is likely to lead an overhaul of the Sparks loyalty scheme, which has been described as too complicated and discount-heavy by CEO Steve Rowe.
