The family-owned, Scottish retailer is trying to give its ecommerce business a boost through a new digital strategy and investment.

Leading digital commerce agency Astound Commerce has been appointed to implement several digital projects aimed at increasing online conversion rates.

M&Co has had a transactional website since 2006, and also operates almost 270 stores worldwide, selling its product ranges across womenswear, kidswear, menswear and homeware.

“We are really excited to be working with Astound,” said Nichola Toner, head of e-commerce & customer experience. “Key to the future growth of M&Co is the implementation of our digital strategy and the growth of our e-commerce channel in the UK. And critical to this is meeting the omni-channel needs of our customers.”

The digital strategy will be particularly important moving forward, after like-for-like store sales fell in the year to 28 February 2019. In January, the value fashion retailer cut nearly 60 jobs at its Inchinnan headquarters and London offices and announced plans to spearhead its ecommerce operations following a strategic review.

Operating profits at the fashion retailer fell by 40% to £3.6m last year.
