LVMH establishes watch-making school

The luxury watch market is in deep turmoil, yet LVMH is investing in the industry, more specifically in vocational training.

The French group's watch-making school will train 12 apprentices - LVMH

The group, led by Bernard Arnault, has announced the creation of a watch-making school in partnership with TAG Heuer and Zenith, two of its watch brands, and with the group's own Institut des Métiers d’Excellence -- the vocational training institute founded in 2014 to nurture the luxury craftsmanship professions.

The inspiration for establishing the LVMH Watch-Making School came from Jean-Claude Biver, the President of the group's watches division, and Chantal Gaemperle, LVMH's Human Resources Director, according to the French luxury giant, in a press release.

The first session will train 12 apprentice watch-makers, based at the TAG Heuer manufacturing atelier in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, where the students will be able to benefit from the brand's "avant-garde, innovative outlook." Students will also spend part of their apprenticeship at Zenith, where they will experience the brand's "watch-making heritage and artisanal tradition."

As part of their syllabus at the Institut des Métiers d’Excellence, the apprentices will also be able to attend master classes offered by other watch-making brands.
