Louis Vuitton to stage catwalk in the Louvre Museum

Mar 1, 2017

Louis Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquière has chosen the Louvre Museum to present his fall-winter 2017 collection. According to reports in the Italian and U.S. press, the runway show will take place the last day of Paris Fashion Week on March 7 as the penultimate catwalk of the week, with the Cour Marly as dramatic backdrop.

The Cour Marly is considered to be one of the most beautiful, iconic spaces in the historic museum building. The cream-stone three-story hall houses an exceptional collection of seventeenth and eighteenth century sculptures, many of which were commissioned for the gardens of the Château de Marly, the holiday residence of Louis XIV. Over the years, the sculptures were included in the collection of the Louvre and are now arranged together in the Cour Marly under a glass roof designed by architect I.M Pei, who also designed the museum's famous glass pyramid grand entrance.

The Louis Vuitton show is scheduled to take place at 6:30 pm, March 7, the next-to-last show of the eight day fashion marathon taking place in the French capital.
