More than 10 years after their first collaboration, French leather goods brand Longchamp and Jeremy Scott have unveiled their new 'it' handbag for spring 2017, the 'Empire State Popsicle'.

The handbag is now on sale at Parisian concept store Colette, and will be available from early December in all Longchamp stores.

The 'Empire State Popsicle' - Longchamp X Jeremy Scott

The majority of fashion collaborations may be fleeting affairs, but few seem to be long-lived. As is the case between US designer Jeremy Scott and Longchamp, whose first joint creation dates back to 2006: a combination of French chic and extravagance, of sensible style jazzed up by energetic pop prints, which has by no means uttered its last words.

For the spring 2017 season, the ebullient designer did not veer off his creative philosophy, producing colourful, instantly recognisable graphic motifs. This year, the iconic 'Le Pliage' handbag is sporting rows of tricolour ice lollies - red, white and blue - in the shape of the Empire State Building.

'Le Pliage' is one of Longchamp's most popular handbags. It has been revamped as a travel bag, preserving such essential features as the trapezoid shape and the leather material for which the label is renowned, with the addition of a printed motif designed by Jeremy Scott.

Racking up ten years of collaborations with Longchamp, Scott has come up with designs in an array of different shapes and colours.

Collectors and aficionados have loved the 'Poodlebag' and its cosmic poodle motif, the 'Gold Card' bag looking like a credit card, the 'Tire Track' streaked with tire marks, the 'Zodiac' dotted with astrological signs and the 'Keyboard' with its colourful tiles.
