Loewe expands in Europe with its first store in the Netherlands

Loewe is expanding in Europe and is taking its art gallery-like store concept to the Netherlands, opening its first store in Amsterdam. The Spanish luxury brand has moved into a two-storey, 129-square-meter store in the P.C. Hooftstraat shopping center.

This space, conceived by the brand's creative director, Jonathan Anderson, offers its women's ready-to-wear and accessories collections, including handbags, shoes, scarves, hats, jewelry, wallets and cardholders.

In keeping with the rest of Loewe's boutiques, this new store fuses fashion, art, craftsmanship and design. Garments and accessories of the maison coexist with hand-enameled ceramic pieces, with furniture icons such as the Utrecht armchairs by Gerrit Thomas Rienveld or armchairs by George Nakashima.

In addition, the establishment exhibits some of Loewe's collection artworks, such as ceramics by Ron Nagle, a piece by Tomonari Hashimoto (finalist of the Loewe Craft Prize in 2019) or an oil painting by artist and poet Frank Walter.

"This diverse set of media, periods and forms is characteristic of Loewe's approach to the world of art and craftsmanship, bringing together the historical and the contemporary in a space dedicated to intelligent visual expression," the company explained.

With the opening of this boutique in Amsterdam on December 1, the Spanish luxury house is continuing to expand its presence in Europe after having inaugurated a point of sale in the KaDeWe department store in Berlin last November.

Loewe's latest retail moves include the reopening of its SoHo store in New York and the opening of pop up stores in Tokyo and Harrods department store in London.

The brand, now owned by French luxury conglomerate LVMH, is in a period of growth and, in 2021, increased its sales by 38% to €456 million.
