Leeds-based start-up debuts eco loungewar

It’s ‘sustainable, conscious and honest’ and it’s called Lounge-Wear. Ticking all the right boxes for a business “born out of the lockdown”, Lounge-Wear is a new organic, vegan-friendly casual clothing brand launching Thursday.

The Leeds-based start-up will supply hoodies, sweatshirts, joggers, T-shirts and shorts, using only organic recycled materials that are vegan certified by PETA.  Prices range from £24 for an organic T-shirt to £65 for an organic hooded robe.

Founder and CEO Ilan Sherman said the new business has been adapted from his initial business which provided clothing for salons. When his target market was continuously forced to close during lockdown, he pivoted towards a “new vision”.

In collaboration with designer Georgia Wilkinson, the collection is entirely created in-house at its factory in Leeds.

But, Sherman says, Lounge-Wear “isn’t claiming to be some clothing line exclusively for tree huggers. When you tell people you’re bringing out an organic vegan clothing range, they conjure up stereotypical images that do not align with mainstream fashion. We have created a collection that disrupts the false assumption that vegan clothing can’t be on-trend.”

Wilkinson added: “I have put together a premium collection in a range of neutral hues to suit every skin tone. The clothing we have produced is extremely soft and comfortable, and crucially, the materials are recycled, organic and vegan certified, even down to the labelling and packaging”.

The collection will be stocked online at lounge-wear.co.uk.
