NEW YORK, Sept 8, 2011 (AFP) - Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld on Thursday described his friend Dominique Strauss-Kahn as charming and "sweet" -- unless you're a woman.

Defending the French politician against sex assault allegations, Lagerfeld told style.com that all politicians are "horny."
"They get horny from politics, from power," said the eccentric German fashionista, famous for his snowy hair and enormous sunglasses.
Lagerfeld added that Strauss-Kahn, whose hopes of becoming next French president were dashed when he was accused in New York of forcing a hotel maid to give him oral sex, has "unbelievable charms."
"He is really charming. Hes fun, hes great. Hes a sweet guy -- as long as youre not a woman. Thats the problem."
The sex assault case in New York collapsed over credibility problems with the maid and last Saturday Strauss-Kahn was able finally to leave the United States for Paris.
"I love DSK. I love his wife. They are great people and when they came back to Paris I sent them flowers," Lagerfeld said. "But you know, for people in politics, its very embarrassing."
