Lacoste joins angora boycott

The French brand has decided to put an end to the use of angora in its collections. Lacoste confirmed the move to animal rights association PETA.

"As part of its CSR policy, we can confirm that Lacoste has no plan to use angora fibers in its coming collections," said the company. 

The announcement comes a year after Peta launched an investigation into angora, publishing bloody videos showing angora rabbits skinned alive in order to obtain longer and better quality wool. Many brands have quickly joined the boycott, including M&S, Asos, Next, H&M, Topshop, Espirit, Stella McCartney and Calvin Klein. 

"Angora production is cruel, and PETA urges the few remaining retailers to learn from Lacoste's experience and show that cruelty to animals has no place in their stores," said the association. "There quite simply is no way to obtain angora responsibly, which is why so many companies have switched to humane, animal-free fabrics, which are readily available."
