While all 55 Kurt Geiger stores in the UK and Ireland have now closed, the company is encouraging staff to support their communities by volunteering at local charities.

The brand is working with Age UK, the charity for local people, to provide extra support, and has announced plans to give away dozens of gift cards to NHS frontline staff who are battling the coronavirus pandemic.

Store managers have been instructed to donate £100 vouchers to 55 NHS critical care workers in each of their local hospitals. Additionally, all NHS workers will be offered a 50% discount on all Kurt Geiger products in store for a year.

CEO Neil Clifford, who announced that his salary would be suspended until stores reopen, said: “It’s clear that community life and extra acts of kindness will help build invaluable support in this unprecedented time, particularly for the vulnerable and isolated. We will be actively helping our teams play their part in supporting those most in need within their local areas.”

Kurt Geiger is not alone in launching such an initiative. Pronovias, the Spanish bridal retailer, is giving free wedding dresses to frontline healthcare workers, and Sophia Webster has pledged to donate 200 pairs of trainers to NHS staff.
