Dior’s menswear creative director plans to unveil his next collection for the house, pre-fall 2021, online and in Beijing on December 8; the latest stop on the almost peripatetic designer’s fashion journey.

Jones has previously taken Dior’s past two pre-fall menswear collections to Tokyo and Miami. In Tokyo, Jones staged Dior’s first pre-fall runway show in November 2018 before a giant 12-meter-high robot warrior lady sculpture by Hajime Sorayama. Around 1,000 fans, influencers, editors and stars crowded into the venue, the Telecom Center, with his pals Kate Moss, David Beckham, ASAP Rocky, Bella Hadid, Jordan Barrett and Ezra Miller sat front-row.

In Florida, in December 2019, Jones staged a mammoth show and party opposite the private Rubell Museum, incorporating black and white graphic art by Shawn Stussy, founder streetwear label brand Stussy; and featuring a live concert by country and western star Orville Peck. The show also unveiled another Dior link-up; much of the cast marched in bold new Air Jordan high-tops, combining elements of the Dior oblique print, the classic Swoosh and the house’s signature dove gray.

However, the house cautioned that due to continuing travel restrictions, it would not stage an actual runway show in Beijing next month. Instead it will hold “an exclusive event in Beijing at the same time” that it unveils the collection online. The Parisian haute couture house revealed the plan to  FashionNetwork.com on Tuesday morning.

Like Monsieur Dior, a gallery owner who showed works by Picasso, Dali and Magritte, Jones is artistically obsessed. His debut show for the house featured a giant floral statue of a cartoon character by Kaws; while last June in Paris he had a set designed by artist Daniel Arsham.

The Parisian house did not reveal if there were any plans for a fresh artist collaborations for this China project. Kim’s last collection – spring 2020 collection – was also presented online, a collab’ with Ghanaian artist Amoako Boafo, where his friends wore Dior in his actual studio.
