Karl Lagerfeld recruits new sales director from Chloé
The Karl Lagerfeld brand has a new sales director. The eponymous ready-to-wear label founded by the late German designer has announced the appointment of Nicolette Veendorp to the role. Starting May 2019, she will succeed Carlos Pallegrini, who has held the position for six years, splitting her time between the brand's offices in Paris and Amsterdam, and reporting to CEO Pier Paolo Righi.
According to her Linkedin profile, the executive has spent all of her career at Chloé, having started out at the brand in 1998 as a consultant. 13 years later she joined the Richemont-owned fashion house's management team and most recently served as wholesale commercial director for Chloé and its youth line See by Chloé.
In her new position, Veendorp will play a key role in the development and implementation of its wholesale expansion strategy, the brand said in a press release.
"Nicolette is an accomplished industry professional with exceptional leadership and knowledge of growing premium and luxury fashion businesses," stated Pier Paolo Righi. "She will be instrumental in rolling out our brand’s expansion strategy, with top-tier on- and off-line wholesale partners across regions."
Karl Lagerfeld saw exponential growth of around 40% in the last fiscal year and should continue to accelerate moving forward, with the brand currently expecting to see two-figure growth this year.
Since August 2015, the brand has been led by creative director Hun Kim, who was chosen by Karl Lagerfeld himself, and is now also being supported by former Vogue France editor Carine Roitfeld, who was recently named as the house's style adviser for the next three seasons, starting Sping/Sumer 2020.
