Pitti Uomo has come up with another surprise. Having announced the presence among its guests of honour of Raf Simons, the former creative director of Christian Dior, the men's fashion show scheduled in Florence from 14th to 17th June added another distinguished name to its programme: Karl Lagerfeld, who will be celebrated in Florence by means of a great exhibition dedicated to his career as a photographer.

Karl Lagerfeld

'Karl Lagerfeld_Visions of Fashion' is the name of the anthology project conceived by Eric Pfrunder and Gerhard Steidl. It will be presented at Palazzo Pitti on 14th June, and will feature a significant selection of the German designer's photographic output. Karl Lagerfeld has been in charge of Chanel's design for 33 years.

"This event is part of Pitti Uomo 90's special programme, made possible by the 2015-17 extraordinary three-year plan promoted by the Italian government," the organisers have stated in a press release.

The exhibition also marks the start of a three-year collaboration agreement between the Pitti Immagine Discovery Foundation and Florence's Uffizi Gallery museum, supported by the Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana (Florence's Italian fashion centre) and Pitti Immagine.

The agreement provides for a series of exhibitions on the culture of contemporary fashion, produced jointly with Florence's two signature museums, Palazzo Pitti and the Uffizi Gallery, featuring 'extraordinary' personalities.
