"It is not a decision that I take lightly and I am eternally grateful to my team for all their hard work and dedication,” said the designer in a statement. The brand received investment from Indian heiress Eiesha Bharti Pasricha in January this year, and according to the label the decision to cease production was taken together.

“Eiesha has not only been a fantastic partner over the last year but an incredible support and we remain close. I am very thankful for all of the friends that I have across the industry, and I look forward to working with everyone again soon on future creative projects," said Saunders.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed supporting one of the most talented British designers of our times. Our decision to part ways was not easy and I wish Jonathan every success for the future," said Eiesha Bharti Pasricha.

The news comes five months after Jonathan Saunders announced the appointment of Rupert Maunsell as its first CEO. Maunsell, who was Director of Operations at Mary Katrantzou, was set to lead a series of key hires to round out the management team. This year Jonathan Saunders had also relocated into a more spacious location in Clerkenwell to support the expansion.

The company, which was founded in 2003 and presented at London Fashion Week, said it will honour orders from the Spring/Summer 2016 collection.
