John Richmond opens store in Kiev, plans further retail expansion
British label John Richmond continues its retail relaunch under the aegis of Italian majority shareholder Arav Fashion, inaugurating a 200 m2 store in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, after opening a store in the Sardinian luxury resort of Porto Cervo last May.
John Richmond’s Kiev store is located inside the Atmosphere Trade Center shopping mall. Its minimalist-chic interior design, quite a contrast with the label's punk-rock DNA, was developed by architecture studio Fabio Caselli and John Richmond himself. Behind two generous shop windows, the store showcases John Richmond’s ready-to-wear and accessories collections for men, women and children.
John Richmond was founded by the eponymous designer in London in the 1980s and, after opening two stores this year, the label told FashionNetwork.com it is planning to extend its retail footprint by opening more monobrand stores. The next two are scheduled in 2019 in China, to be followed by more openings in Europe.
In June 2017, Italian fashion group Arav Fashion, founded by Mena Marano and Giuseppe Ammaturo and owner of the Silvian Heach and Silvian Heach Kids labels, bought an 83% stake in John Richmond from Fashioneast, also signing a master licensee contract for the production and distribution of all of the label's lines.
In the 2017 financial year, John Richmond recorded revenue of €9 million, of which €7 million came from apparel sales, and the rest from footwear.
