John Lewis adds Sweaty Betty to click & collect offer

Published
Oct 20, 2020

Following its major strategy announcement last week, John Lewis is demonstrating its increased commitment to online shopping with news of a number of enhancements to its click & collect service “to make shopping even more convenient for customers this Christmas”.

Sweaty Betty

It means that consumers shopping from Sweaty Betty’s own webstore can now collect their orders from John Lewis and Waitrose stores.

Companies are increasingly forming partnerships of this type, which may seem counterintuitive on the surface. However, with shoppers having been shown to buy more often in a particular store when they collect online orders from that store, it makes good commercial sense.

Meanwhile, John Lewis has also made click & collect available for the first time from all Waitrose shops in the Channel Islands, which includes two shops in Guernsey and three shops in Jersey.  This follows the addition of around 400 new Co-op Click & Collect locations this summer, including three shops in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It takes the total number of locations where customers can pick up their John Lewis purchases this Christmas to nearly 900.

It's an important development given the fact that supermarkets have remained popular retail destinations during the pandemic and with consumers always seeking extra convenience, the new availability has very clear appeal.

Andrew Murphy, Executive Director, Operations at the John Lewis Partnership said: “Our online trade continues to be exceptionally strong and — in the run-up to Christmas especially — it’s increasingly important that customers know they can take delivery of their John Lewis purchases quickly, locally and at low or no cost.”
