The new store will be John Lewis' largest overseas outlet at 15,000 sqft. and have a bigger range of products than its existing international stores. Dubai shoppers will be able to buy John Lewis' furniture, cookware, textiles, glassware and nursery products, as well as bed, bath, living and gifting assortments. The shop-in-shop will also serve as Robinson's home and lifestyle section.

The Dubai Festival City Mall is currently expanding, and will be almost 180,000 sqft., the largest in the region, when finished. The John Lewis shop will open in spring 2017. In addition, John Lewis is opening a 630 sqft. shop-in-shop at Robinsons' Kuala Lumpur store in March 2016.

John Lewis' managing director, Andy Street, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Robinsons again on two new ventures. The success of our existing international shop-in-shops has given us the confidence to open in the Middle East and increase both the scale of the space and product assortment. This is an exciting time for Al Futtaim’s Dubai Festival City Mall and we’re pleased that John Lewis will be a part of the next phase of its redevelopment.”

In November 2015, John Lewis announced plans to open seven shop-in-shops in branches of the Netherlands' leading department store, de Bijenkorf, with the first three opening this spring in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague.
