John Lewis names Ferrer new fashion director of design

Published

John Lewis has made a major new appointment, naming Queralt Ferrer as its first director of design for the fashion super-category, as part of its plan to bolster its own-brand strategy.

Queralt Ferrer - John Lewis

The seasoned design executive has most recently been creative director of made-to-order nursery and kidswear brand Five of Us that she also founded.

But before this she was at the cutting edge of chain store-based fashion retail as director of design for womenswear, lingerie and beauty at M&S from 2013 to 2018, and previously as womenswear design director at Massimo Dutti from 1995 to 2012.

She had also been a strategy advisor for fashion design and commercial via her own consultancy.

That’s an impressive CV and her arrival at the business comes as John Lewis continues to develop its own labels, including adding fashion to its Anyday value-focused line last year.

Commercial director Kathleen Mitchell said the appointment “underlines our ambition to further raise the profile of John Lewis design and our commitment to investing in our own-brand ranges. She brings outstanding expertise in world-class design that will elevate the creative energy and talent we already have within the team.”
