Jitrois opens first store in Hong Kong

It's probably not the best time given the rebellion against Chinese authorities…but designer Jean Claude Jitrois nevertheless decided to open his first flagship store in Hong Kong this month.

The house of Jitrois, which has been present in the city for over 15 years through multi-brand stores, has now opened a 1,500 square foot store on the first floor of the Prince's building, the historic Asian luxury and fashion center.

Christophe Pillet, who has designed all of the label’s stores since 2000, has continued along the same lines as his previous work with an elegant and uncluttered space, in the “private mansion" style dear to its founder.

"For Hong Kong in particular, as it's such a fast-paced financial center, it was crucial that we create a bubble of privacy, the comfort of refined luxury," he said.
Customers enter into a softly lit space with champagne-hue lacquered walls punctuated by vertical glass tubes. There are Thassos marble floors, shimmering ceilings and suspended racks that display the label’s stretch leather and furs.

The experience continues into a second room with a luxurious and serene decor to set the mood for the brand’s menswear collection. "The leather designs, like a second skin, blend stretches of silk and velvet in the middle, in warm gray tones and pale gold with refreshing effects," says the brand.

After Beijing in 2012 and Hong Kong in 2014, Jitrois continues to expand in Asia, with plans in the coming year for openings in Shanghai, Macau and Seoul.
