Jil Sander’s revival continues with the introduction of a new store format. At the end of September, the German label, owned by the Onward Luxury Group, has unveiled a revamped interiors concept with the inauguration of its latest flagship store, located in Tokyo’s chic Omotesando district. The new-look interiors will be adopted for Jil Sander’s future stores, and for the renovation of existing ones.

The new format’s feel is pristine, intimate and soothing. British architect John Pawson, in collaboration with the label's creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier, in charge of style at Jil Sander for the last three seasons, infused the 268 m2 premises with the label’s minimalistic DNA, using natural materials and keeping things very simple.

The floor is limestone, the walls are upholstered in cherry wood or coated in lime, and the wooden shelving is illuminated from above. The store’s generous glass façade lets the daylight in. It only showcases one or two looks, but it tempts passers-by to step in and enjoy the store, bathing it in a warm, relaxed atmosphere.

Jil Sander, which operates 11 stores worldwide, will adopt the new format to renovate a number of them in the next few years, including its Parisian flagship in avenue Montaigne. A new opening is also planned in Moscow in 2019.
