Jeweller Taylor & Hart opens UK workshop

Published

Bespoke engagement ring specialist Taylor & Hart is bringing production in-house with the opening of a UK workshop in London.

After growing revenues to £5.3 million in 2019, the business is hoping this figure to double by the end of 2020, helped by the opening of the workshop and continued innovation in the engagement ring category.

Located in Holborn, close to Chancery Lane tube station and not far from London's Hatton Garden jewellery quarter, the workshop will allow the company to have a completely autonomous process of creating bespoke jewellery. Taylor & Hart said the move was ‘inevitable’, as it will give it the ability to control quality at every step of the process.

It also builds on a transparency initiative launched last year, which saw the company release a diamond ring that could be traced digitally from mine to finished product using blockchain.

“This is a real milestone for [us]. We have grown so much over the past seven years that we are now in a position to be able to open a workshop, allowing us the opportunity for staff development in our industry and crafting process. We are excited by the prospect of having more autonomy on the creation of our products,” said Nikolay Piriankov, CEO of the firm.

The business, established by Nikolay Piriankov, David Sutton and Shane Hunt in 2013, is pioneering in the engagement ring industry by merging elements of online shopping with a traditional jeweller’s personal-service offering.

“Our growth over the last few years has been incredible and something I am very proud of,” Piriankov continued. “We are excited that the workshop will allow customers to see how their ring is being crafted, right in front of their eyes. Involving the customer in the creation of their ring is already part of our DNA and we're really passionate about advancing with this element.”
