Heritage jewellery business Parkhouse is rebranding as Laing and will relocate its Hampshire store to a new luxury location in the more accessible Southampton shopping centre Westquay.

Parkhouse was sold by its founder John Parkhouse to Scotland’s finest and most prestigious independent family jewellers Laing in 1995 in recognition of their similar history and shared values.

The sixth generation jewellery business is now ready to enter a new era with a new name, officially combining both family businesses into one. The rebrand will see all Parkhouse locations become Laing stores, including the original store in Southampton.

Now located at 96 Above Bar, Parkhouse Hampshire will reopen as Laing at Westquay Southampton in September. The new 262 sq mt store will benefit from a fit out of the highest specification with contemporary, light and airy interiors and it will house LAING’s fine diamond jewellery and the world’s leading luxury brands Rolex, Patek Philippe and IWC Schaffhausen.

“The move from Above Bar to Westquay is an exciting development for our business and customers. The new store is a better fit for our brand and customers, we’re moving to a state-of-the-art luxurious showroom with more spacious, contemporary interiors and ease of parking,” said Laing chairman Michael Laing.

“The decision to re-brand to Laing is a positive step for Parkhouse as it takes us onto a national platform as one brand,” he added.

In addition to Laing, the shopping centre has recently seen Pandora upsize its store from 86 sq mts to 335 sq mts. The decision to increase the size of the store is reflective of the shopper demand for the brand’s products, with queues frequently building up outside the store during the festive season.

Hammerson’s UK commercial director Iain Mitchell underlined Westquay’s growing reputation as the region’s leading retail and leisure destination.

“We are delighted that the centre is the venue of choice for LAING a strong addition to the centre’s jewellery offer and retail line up which continues to evolve. The Pandora upsize is reflective of both shopper and occupier demand, with international retailers prioritising flagship stores to build brand awareness,” he said.
