According to our sources, Christine Chapellu has been named managing director at Jean Paul Gaultier. The position at the brand has been vacant since it was taken over by Spanish group Puig in 2011.

Christine Chapellu was formerly head of buying at Paris department store Le Bon Marché, a position that she held for ten years. In this new role, Chapellu will report to Ralph Toledano, who joined Puig’s fashion division just over a year ago.

When FashionMag.com spoke to Toledano last week at the French chamber of fashion in Paris, the boss neither confirmed nor denied the information.

Jean-Paul Gaultier has recently signed an agreement with Ittierre for the production and distribution of its menswear collection and for the conception of an affordable, urban line for men and women, due to launch in 2014.

Jean Paul Gaultier’s ready-to-wear line for women - which was formerly under a license with Aeffe - is today manufactured by Italian group Gibo.

The designer will present his menswear this week in Paris his couture collection at couture fashion week, which takes place between June 30 and July 5.
