JD Sports invests in larger Intu Potteries store

Published

JD Sports is set to bring a more high-end offer to Intu Potteries following the success of its premium Scotts chain at the centre.

The retail group has plans to open a 4,879-square-foot store that will combine Scotts, whose brands include Fred Perry, Pretty Green, Barbour and Paul & Shark, and Tessuti ⏤ the designer fashion retailer stocking luxury names such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Paul Smith, Love Moschino and Hugo Boss.

“We have traded successfully over many years at intu Potteries under our Scotts fashion banner and have a loyal clientele,” explained James Air, group acquisitions manager for Tessuti and Scotts at JD Sports Fashion, in a statement.

“The decision was taken to invest in this strong location with a bigger, better store to combine both the Scotts range and to give customers an all new Tessuti with its higher end luxury brands.”

The retail group also operates a JD Sports store at the centre, whose catchment reaches across south Cheshire and Shropshire, with £3 billion of retail spend within a 45-minute drive.

Colin Flinn, regional managing director for intu, said: “intu Potteries is home to many of the UK’s leading brands from Primark and Debenhams to Cineworld. The centre's key location presents retailers with opportunities to deliver strong performance.”

Tessuti has 36 stores across the UK, and Scotts over 20 locations.
