British sportswear retail giant JD Sports Fashion confirmed Thursday Dominic Platt as its new chief financial officer.

Platt, who is currently CFO of financial services platform BGL Group, owner of Compare the Market, will take on his new role at the retailer later this year. He's also an independent non-executive Director at N Brown Group.

JD Sports said last year said that CFO Neil Greenhalgh would step down in 2023, after four years in the role. Greenhalgh will leave the business later in the summer having completed the publication of the Annual Report for the year to 28 January 2023 and after ensuring that an orderly transition of his responsibilities is in place.

The company said its new man joins with “extensive experience in international consumer-focused public and private companies, including helping to drive growth strategies and deliver successful results”.

Platt previously held senior finance roles at Darty, where he was Group Finance Director and Managing Director of International Businesses, and at Cable and Wireless, both in the UK and internationally.

JD CEO Régis Schultz said: “Having worked closely with Dominic before, I am certain his financial expertise, deep knowledge of governance and strategic counsel will be crucial in helping to drive forward the next chapter in the global growth story of JD.”

Platt added: “JD has a clear ambition to become the leading global sports-fashion powerhouse and I am excited to support the group in realising its strategic vision.”
