Italy retail sales fall 20.5% month-on-month in March

Italian retail sales fell 20.5% in March from the month before, data showed on Thursday, following a 0.9% rise in February.

National statistics institute ISTAT marginally revised up February's data from an originally reported 0.8% increase.

Sales fell 18.4% in unadjusted year-on-year terms in March, ISTAT said.

The data are expressed in value terms and are not adjusted for consumer prices, which increased 0.1% in March from the year earlier, based on Italy's EU-harmonised index (HICP).
