Italian childrenswear label Monnalisa opens store in USA's largest shopping mall
On October 10, Italian high-end childrenswear label Monnalisa opened its first directly owned monobrand store in a US shopping mall. Monnalisa is already operating three stores in the country, in Beverly Hills, Miami and a recently renovated one in New York. The new store was opened in Philadelphia's King of Prussia Mall, the largest shopping centre in the US, with a retail area of 270,000 m2, hosting 450 stores and 25 million visitors per year.
The interior of this new 80 m2 shop is at once romantic and contemporary, with a rose-bouquet-patterned floor and a façade in pink and rose gold.
Monnalisa’s latest opening is part of the brand’s international expansion strategy, announced last July when Monnalisa was listed on the Italian stock exchange. It is also the first time that Monnalisa is opening a monobrand store in a shopping mall, an approach which could help boost its expansion in the US.
Monnalisa was founded in Arezzo, Italy, in 1968. It is distributed in 60 countries via monobrand and department stores, and over 750 multibrand retailers. In 2017, the company generated a consolidated revenue of €47.7 million, up 18% over 2016, with EBIDTA of €6.57 million (+56.6%). Exports accounted for 67% of Monnalisa’s revenue.
