Hulanicki launches home fragrances with House of Fraser

Published
Jul 8, 2016

Fashion designer Barbara Hulanicki created her iconic label Biba in the 1960's and it closed down in 1975, but was brought back to life by British department store House of Fraser in 2010.

Now, over fifty years after Biba launched, Hulanicki has created a new product for the collection - a limited edition home fragrance collection called "Tabac Noir." The scent, which is a velvety, rich fragrance that evokes the heady incense of the 1970's, is exclusive to House of Fraser. It was inspired by Hulanicki's aesthetic and comprises of a medium candle, a large 3-wick candle and a 200ml diffuser, as well as mini trio sets of each.

“I’m a huge believer in the power of scent and have loved developing this collection with House of Fraser. I was immediately drawn to the rich, heady glamour of Tobac Noir, which perfectly befits the 1970’s mood and movement,” Hulanicki said.

The heart of the scent is dominated by rosewood and carnation, and it has a base of patchouli, smoky cedarwood, sweet tobacco flower and inky tonka bean. And the look of the collection is certainly very Biba - the fragrances come in a gold finish and are decorated with a signature Hulanicki illustration of a girl's face.
