As many as seven states issued flash flood watches and warnings early Tuesday following threats of flooding, hail, and thunderstorms that affected the Houston area, shutting down schools, transportation and businesses.

Over the weekend, Texas and Oklahoma were hit with deadly storms that left motorists stranded and 500 vehicles abandoned. CenterPoint Energy reported that 80,000 customers were without power overnight.

Target employee, Joshua Cooper told CNBC that he and a dozen workers were stuck inside the Target location he works at after being surrounded by water.

The city's Galleria mall was flooded overnight, but was cleared by Tuesday morning according to the Houston Chronicle. Simon Properties, which owns Galleria mall, said in a statement, "Due to the impact of last night's storms, The Galleria will open at Noon today. We encourage shoppers to contact retailers directly before traveling to the Mall." A spokeswoman for the company said that stores were not affected.

Despite this, Saks Fifth Avenue decided to not open its Galleria mall location according to WWD. J.C. Penney did the opposite by opening all stores by the afternoon.

A mall employee at Memorial City Mall told WWD that, "some stores may not open due to employees being unable to get to the mall." Dearborn Mall in Humble, Tx, Houston Premium Outlets in Cypress, Tx and Willowbrook Mall in Houston were relatively unscathed following the flooding.

Reuters reported that more bad weather is expected to hit the southern US, specifically parts of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Louisiana, and Mississippi. There's a high chance of more rain in Texas this week.
