Designer Holly Fulton has been appointed head of fashion at the Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts (CSVPA) and will be in charge of its Fashion BA Hons degree. She will continue to act as a director of her own label that she has been running since 2009.

Fulton already has a strong track record in education and was a Graduate Fashion Week for two years, as well as a visiting lecturer at both the Royal College of Art and Kingston University.

The CSVPA’s head of college Karin Askham said the school specifically wanted to find a working fashion designer to run the course as that would allow it “to offer our students unparalleled industry insights as part of their education.”

Askham added that Fulton would bring the school a “global understanding of the industry” and an “incredibly strong UK reputation”.

A multi-award-winner, Fulton has a strong UK reputation and also a growing profile in the all-important Asia and US markets. Along with other designers who emerged in the UK (such as Jonathan Saunders and Mary Katrantzou), she’s known for her strong prints and textiles.

So it’s no surprise that she has also been expanding her business beyond just fashion and after taking a step back from London Fashion Week, she came back in September with a presentation that included both her ready-to-wear as well as homewares and bespoke furniture.
