Hitchcock-esque chic, swallows and calf-skimming silhouettes at Rochas

The French luxury label's monochromatically fabulous Fall wardrobe was replete with retro chic styling. Head designer Alessandro Dell'Acqua unleashed the Rochas woman's inner glamour puss with bow-tie neck blouses,  luxe fur and ostrich feather trim, and the brand's signature swirling bird prints.

The collection offered wide-lapelled cocoon coats and numerous minimalist workwear to eveningwear shift dresses in a demure palette of sandy brown, grey, olive and marigold. Maximalist touches included lacier lingerie-revealing silhouettes and fur patch pockets as seen previously in Milan at the Prada show last week.

Seductive 1950s chic was central to Dell'Acqua's vision for fall: strappy dresses featured sweatheart-necklines festooned with pin-up style ruffles, waists cinched with wide buckled belts (another emerging runway trend, as seen on the Guy Laroche runway on Wednesday) and swingy silhouettes hit the calf.

The designer reworked his bird prints this season. They cropped up on sheer two-tone full-skirted dresses. Jet black-beaded swallow embroidery fit for Hitchcock heroines, added a glamorous twist to the ice blue silhouettes for the show finale, including an A-line coat and bow-tie collar.
