Henkel puts Jens-Martin Schwärzler in charge of Beauty Care globally
From November 1, Jens-Martin Schwärzler will join Henkel's international executive committee, taking charge of the global Beauty Care business. Schwärzler, 54, is currently Senior Corporate Vice-President in charge of the consumer goods business in North America for the German multinational.
He succeeds Pascal Houdayer, who is leaving the group to "pursue new projects," stated Henkel.
Jens-Martin Schwärzler joined Henkel in 1992. He started his managerial career in the Laundry and Home Care division, before overseeing worldwide marketing operations for body care, skincare and oral and dental hygiene products within the Beauty Care division, from 2008 to 2014. Since 2015, he has been in charge of Henkel's consumer goods business in North America, including the USA, which is Henkel's leading market by revenues.
In the last few months, Henkel has carried out several acquisitions, which allowed the group to strengthen its beauty brand portfolio, notably in the haircare segment.
Last March, Henkel bought Nattura Laboratorios, a Mexican beauty company which is active in the USA, Colombia and Spain, and is the owner of professional haircare brands Pranava and Tec Italy. Meanwhile, just three days ago, Henkel bought Shiseido's haircare business in North America for over €400 million.
In 2016, Henkel's Beauty Care division generated a revenue of approximately €3.8 billion. The division's brand portfolio features consumer and professional haircare products, as well as body care, skincare and oral and dental hygiene products. Among its leading brands are Schwarzkopf, Dial and Syoss.
