The CEO of men’s footwear brand Harrys of London, Steven Newey, has left the business just months after it was acquired by New York-based real estate developer and media mogul Charles S. Cohen.

According to reports, Newey has departed with immediate effect. He joined Harrys of London in June 2015 and was responsible for the strategy and direction of the brand.

The search for a successor will be overseen by Harrys of London advisor and former Trinity Limited chief executive Richard Cohen.

Harrys of London announced its sale to Charles S. Cohen for an undisclosed sum earlier in May. Cohen acquired a 100% interest in the brand and assumed the role of chairman.

It remains unclear whether Newey’s departure is linked to the new ownership. When the company announced its new owner, Newey said: “I am incredibly excited to partner with Charles in bringing the Harrys of London brand to the next level. Charles brings a unique vision and background that will be invaluable in our future growth. We are looking forward to taking full advantage of the new horizons this partnership will open up.”

Before joining Harrys of London, Newey served as group commercial director at Mulberry and as general manager for Europe and the Middle East at Berlutti. His career has also included stints at Alfred Dunhill, Tommy Hilfiger and Hermès.
