Klarna is heading into high-end beauty. The financier has partnered with luxury department store Harrods, initially offering its beauty customers buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) options.

Its payments features will be available at the London flagship Knightsbridge Beauty Hall, as well as the retailer’s standalone H Beauty stores in Essex (Lakeside) and Milton Keynes (centre:mk), and online.

Klarna said further Harrods departments are also set to roll out its payment options in the coming months. That's a big move for both Klarna and Harrods and shows how BNPL is permeating not just the mass-market but the very highest-end too.

For now, customers shopping for beauty items on its webstore can use Klarna’s pay-in-three model. This will also be made available to US customers who can use Klarna’s four-payment model when shopping online. The online offer is also available to Harrods customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Harrods partnership director Alex Unitt said: “Harrods is known for providing a first class shopping experience, and this latest partnership with Klarna enables us to give our customers maximum flexibility and convenient payment options.”

Klarna chief commercial officer Luke Griffiths added: “Harrods is one of the most recognisable brands across the globe with a footprint and heritage that is unrivalled within the luxury retail space.”
