Hammerson names new director to attract tenants to malls

Commercial property giant Hammerson has appointed Sarah Tinsley to the increasingly important post of director of marketing and placemaking.

The creative and branding expert will be tasked with attracting new tenants to its shopping malls, which includes the Bullring & Grand Central in Birmingham, the Bicester Village Designer Outlet Centre in Oxfordshire, and the Victoria Quarter in Leeds.
 
Her full remit includes directing customer marketing, brand experience, digital, activations, partnerships, brand feedback and customer feedback teams. 

Tinsley has more than 20 years’ brand-building and content creation experience, and joins from Quintain where she spent two years “scaling the company’s consumer residential brand”, as part of its £5 billion Wembley, North London, regeneration project. 
 
Prior to this, she worked for seven years at Whitbread Restaurants, supporting the company’s product innovation, and delivering customer-led propositions. 
 
Harry Badham, chief development and asset repositioning officer at Hammerson, said: “People are engaging with the virtual and the physical world in new ways and for us to remain successful, it is increasingly important for us to amplify the character of our places and to communicate with our customers in innovative and relevant ways. 
 
“Sarah has built brands over her career that have been at the forefront of consumer trends, using unique experiences and digital channels which we think are more relevant now than ever.” 
 
Tinsley added that she aims “to help define and deliver placemaking across the portfolio through closer collaboration with brands and customers.”
 
She said: “Our focus will be on finding innovative ways to engage with consumer brands and retail partners to generate rich experiences and content for our existing and potential audiences, which in turn will drive the reasons to connect and visit our destinations.”
