H&M opens outlet store in Wales

Swedish clothing giant H&M has opened a store in the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Bridgend in Wales.

The opening marks another step in the affordable brand’s UK expansion, adding to a portfolio of stores that already includes more than 240 stores in the UK and Ireland.

One of the world’s most-famous fashion chains, H&M first launched in the UK in 1976.

The new outlet store offers a garment collecting service, giving customers the opportunity to donate any unwanted clothes and textiles, by any brand, and receive a £5 voucher in return. All donated items are recycled - H&M says 0% go to landfill.

By opening at the outlet centre, H&M joins a list of premium and high street fashion brands such as Adidas, Boss, Ted Baker, Tommy Hilfiger and Gap.

“At McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Bridgend we are dedicated to offering our guests the best shopping experience and are thrilled to be adding H&M to our fashion portfolio, giving our guests further quality brands at affordable prices,” said Richard Garrett from McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Bridgend.

The company was founded in Sweden in 1947 by Erling Persson. The founding family retains a 47.9% stake in the business, which saw sales rise 11% in the 2019 financial year. Cos, Monki, Weekday, & Other Stories and Arket are also part of the H&M Group.
