H&M is reshuffling its European senior management. The Swedish fashion chain has named former country manager for Spain and Portugal, Ralf Wein, as new country manager for the French market. Replacing him is Polish executive Katarzyna Niemirowicz, who will become the brand’s new country manager in the Iberian market.

Ralf Wein is taking over from Thomas Lourenço, who had led the company’s progress in France since 2008. He is now leaving the business to focus on “personal projects,” FashionNetwork.com understands.

Katarzyna Niemirowicz will become the firm’s new country manager in Spain and Portugal on 1 April. According to her LinkedIn profile, she was most recently global sales manager at H&M-owned fashion brand & Other Stories.

Niemirowicz, who has held this position since June 2017, has spent a decade at the Swedish retail group. She started her career with the company as store manager and was promoted to a number of senior roles in management.

H&M posted an 8.2% increase in turnover to 711 million euros in Spain in 2018. The group operates over 4,986 stores worldwide, including 172 stores in Spain. Last year it opened four new locations and closed seven stores in Spain.
