“I still cannot believe I won the H&M Design Award 2013,” exclaimed Minju Kim, graduate of the Académie Royale in Anvers who studied under Walter Van Beirendonck. She takes the prize of 50,000 euros and will see certain pieces from her collection manufactured and sold in selected H&M stores in the autumn. In the meantime, her manga-inspired collection was shown at a runway show at Stockholm Fashion Week on Tuesday. “It is really fantastic to be able to show my collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and to experience my own fashion show,” said the happy winner.

The Minju Kim show took place on Tuesday in Stockholm.

Minju Kim was elected winner by a judging panel comprised of Jonathan Saunders, editor Tim Blanks, designer Leigh Clark, photographer Sølve Sundsbø, blogger and photographer Hanneli Mustaparta, journalist Kristopher Arden Houser, H&M creative director Margareta Van Den Bosch and head of design at H&M, Ann-Sofie Johansson.
