Gucci launches '4 Rooms' art project online

Published

Gucci is building on its recent art partnership with its Gucci 4 Rooms collaborative art project. The Italian fashion house partnered with four artists to create virtual and real spaces that best capture and reflect Gucci’s history and new direction under Creative Director Alessandro Michele.

Michele selected Japanese artists Chiharu Shiota, Daito Manabe and Mr. to create different rooms based on Gucci motifs and themes. Shiota created the Gucci Herbarium Room that drew inspiration from the fashion house’s pattern of that name, Manabe created the Gucci Words Room that features vocabulary that Michele created for the house, and Mr. created the Gucci Garden Room that features animals and plants from Gucci’s pool of garden imagery. Each room carries pieces from the Gucci fall 2016 collection and jewelry from cruise 2017, as well as limited-edition pieces available exclusively in Japan.

Trouble Andrew, who partnered with Michele on the recently released GucciGhost collection, created the secret fourth room that can be found through specific elements hiding in the other rooms.

The rooms can be experienced online at a special, interactive Gucci 4 Rooms website, and the imaginary spaces will come to life at Gucci's Tokyo flagship store in the Ginza shopping district and Dover Street Market Ginza on October 12. The rooms will remain through November 27, 2016.

In addition, Trouble Andrew has been commissioned to create an artwork in the Elephant Room at Dover Street Market Ginza, which will be on view from October 12 through October 24, 2016.
