Gucci forages in archive to create vintage t-shirt series

Published
Nov 3, 2016

Gucci has re-released a new series of hoodies and t-shirts featuring a retro Gucci logo. Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele was inspired by the Gucci archive.

Michele looked at vintage Gucci pieces from the eighties. With these pieces, he wanted to update the eighties logo in a new and unexpected way. Both the sweaters and the t-shirt is 100% cotton. The t-shirt is finished with slight distressing to add to the vintage appeal of the shirt.

The price points were clearly devised based on  Michele’s current success (Gucci sales grew 17% over the last quarter). The t-shirt is retailing for $420, the hoodies will retail for $1,200 and $3,300.

Prior to the release, the pieces have been seen on many celebrities including Jared Leto, Justin Theroux and Michele himself.

The items are now available for purchase at Gucci stores and at Gucci.com
