Gosha Rubchinskiy moves show from Paris to Russia
Jan 8, 2017
Designer Gosha Rubchinskiy has announced that he is forgoing his usual Paris Fashion Week show in favour of a showing in his native Russia.
After being named a special guest at Pitti Uomo last season, the Moscow-bred designer is instead opting to show independently in Kaliningrad in Russia. His eponymous label will still hold a place at Comme des Garçon’s showroom during Paris Fashion Week for buyers and press who aren’t able to make the trip. That should be a big draw, considering the show on January 12th falls right in the middle of the Fall/Winter 2017 showing at Pitti Uomo.
Prior to showing at Pitti Uomo, Rubchinskiy spent four seasons showing at Paris under the guidance of the Comme des Garçons house. The 31-year-old first launched his label in 2008 in Russia, but moved his brand to Paris in 2014.
The bad-boy streetwear designer gained his cult following in the streetwear world through the continuing support of Comme des Garcons’s president Adrian Joffe, as well as his nostalgic skate-style clothing. Comme des Garçons launched Rubchinskiy's first fragrance in October of 2016, which was well-received by press.
