East London fashion retailer Goodhood has announced that retail veteran Iain Renwick has joined its board as its first ever non-executive director.

Renwick was chief executive officer of luxury department store Liberty until 2007, and is credited with successfully reverting the retailer’s decline and restoring the brand to its former glory.

An expert in luxury retail, media and design, Renwick was the executive chairman of sustainability consultancy Eco-Age until September 2017, and serves as a director for a range of organisations.

His appointment will reinforce Goodhood’s senior management team as it consider growth and international expansion opportunities. Located in a quiet street in Shoreditch, London, the Goodhood store sells over 200 brands across menswear, womenswear, lifestyle and cosmetics.

“It is very invigorating for me to be joining Goodhood at this key moment to help define its unique global growth priorities,” said Iain Renwick.

“I feel that if Arthur Liberty, the revolutionary retailer of his times, were alive today he would be doing exactly what Goodhood is by creating and building from their East London base a new branded retail multi-channel concept that is becoming a true leader for a new generation,” he continued.

Founding partner Jo Sindle added: “[Renwicks's] wealth of retail experience and business knowledge will be instrumental in helping us achieve our growth plans.”

“Our ambitions for Goodhood are huge and varied and this is the first step into the next phase of our business journey.”
