Goat names LA Lakers' Kyle Kuzma as first brand ambassador

Sneaker marketplace Goat has announced it has partnered with Los Angeles Lakers player Kyle Kuzma, who will become the company's first brand ambassador. Goat is currently the world's largest resale platform for sneakers.

As brand ambassador, Kuzma will regularly wear what the company has described as "rare and highly-coveted" Nike sneakers provided by Goat. This follows the National Basketball League's decision to remove restrictions on sneaker colors.

"People assume that, as an NBA athlete, you can get access to any kind of sneaker you want," Kuzma said in a release. "When in reality, it's hard to get the exclusive releases or shoes from the past, and feel confident they're authentic. Goat gives me a second chance at not only the limited releases I missed, but also the shoes I wasn't able to afford growing up."

The partnership marks the first relationship of its kind between an athlete and a sneaker reselling platform.

"Goat has always celebrated great athletes," said Eddy Lu, co-founder and CEO of Goat. "Kuzma is emblematic of the passion, focus, and determination that reflect what it means to be great."

The sneaker resale company was founded in 2015 and provides its shoppers with a selection of authenticated footwear ranging from general to exclusive releases.
