GloucesterQuays reports rising sales, fashion outperforms

Published
Apr 26, 2023

News of regional shopping centre successes continues with the southwest of England’s Gloucester Quays reporting strong sales for the April 2022 to March 2023 trading period.

Retail centre sales rose 6% in the 12-month period “in another show of strength for the premier South West outlet”, venue operator Peel L&P has said.

It said the outlet has benefited from an 8% uptick in retail sales, bolstered by new stores from Timberland, and an upsized Levi’s, (“now their largest flagship outlet in the UK” Peel L&P noted). In the period FatFace also made its return to Gloucester Quays, with Next also re-joining in a 5,509 sq ft store.

Mixed fashion “outperformed” 2021/22 by 15%, while footwear-focused tenants saw an 11% growth, closely followed by beauty and wellbeing and sports and outdoor clothing, both up 6%.

Paul Carter, Asset Director at Peel L&P, said: “Outlets provide a great shopping and leisure experience with a real emphasis on value for money, and the performance at Gloucester Quays over the past year shows that our catchment sees that.

“We have in this time delivered more options, introducing some of the best-known retailers… all with the aim of increasing Gloucester Quays’ appeal for visitors.”
