Gilly Hicks opens first Irish store

Published

Gilly Hicks’ first standalone store in Ireland has opened with the move underlining the label's focus on the British and Irish market following the brand’s Carnaby Street debut in London earlier this year.

The activewear and intimates retailer has opened in Belfast’s Victoria Square on the lower ground floor level.

Features in the new store include click & collect, order & reserve in-store, and light-adjusting changing rooms, “designed to ensure customers feel as comfortable and confident as possible”.

The store is only the Abercrombie & Fitch Co-owned brand’s third standalone location in Europe after it unveiled a store in Germany earlier this year.

At the time the Ireland store was first announced, Russell Banham, UK Head at Victoria Square operator Commerz Real, said the signing “underlines the significance of Victoria Square as Northern Ireland’s leading retail and leisure destination and shows the key value the brand places on the retail opportunity in Northern Ireland.”

And this week he added that the retail destination has “many” other stores set to open in the coming months.

That’s a clear trend with the top retail destinations in the market attracting the biggest names while many smaller retail locations continue with a high level of vacancies.
