Renzo Rosso, who hired John Galliano to take the creative helm of Maison Margiela last year, revealed some of the British designer's plans for the luxury brand in an interview published Wednesday.

Rosso spoke positively about the changes since Galliano joined the team, telling WWD, "It was really necessary to hire someone for the next step because Martin [Margiela] was someone who changed the rules in the fashion industry."

He went on to reveal some of Galliano's plans for the brand as he extends his reach to more product categories. Among them, the designer will put his mark on men's wear starting in mid-2016.

Galliano has also started working on a women's perfume for Margiela, Rosso said, to be released in 2017 by L'Oréal.
