G-Star has remained on familiar ground by choosing Aitor Throup as its new Creative Director. The designer was born in Argentina in 1980 and operates his own creative studio in London, and has collaborated with the Dutch denim brand on several projects since 2013. For example, he developed the retail concept for G-Star Raw's Oxford Street store in London, and supervised the brand's latest advertising campaign, 'What is Raw?'.

Aitor Throup opened his own design studio about ten years ago, and has since worked for several artists and for labels such as CP Company and Umbro.

In 2014 he was introduced to G-Star Raw as creative consultant for the development of RAW Research. He presented the RAW Research collection, which he produced, at the latest men's Fashion Week in Paris. He also oversees the brand's 'internal innovation lab' in Amsterdam. In parallel, he will keep managing his London studio, developing his own men's brand, New Object Research.

By appointing Aitor Throup, G-Star Raw has added a high-calibre name to its team. The brand recently reported the departure of its former Brand Manager Shubhankar Ray, who will remain as a consultant.
